How to Organize Your Art Supplies
Learn how to sort, store, and label your art supplies so you can find exactly what you need for your next masterpiece.
- Clear your space. Gather all your art supplies—pencils, markers, paints, and paper—into one big pile on the floor or a large table. This helps you see everything you have.
- Sort by type. Group similar items together. Put all the markers in one pile, crayons in another, and brushes in a third. If you find dried-out markers or broken crayons, ask a grown-up if it is time to recycle or throw them away.
- Create your storage containers. Use your boxes and containers to hold your sorted piles. You might want to use a long, thin box for pencils and a deeper tub for paint bottles. If you want to get fancy, use tape and markers to label each container so you know exactly what goes inside.
- Put it all away. Place your filled containers on your desk or shelf. Keep the things you use most often in the front so they are easy to grab when inspiration strikes!
