How to Build a Craft Stick Catapult
Learn how to build a simple, working catapult using craft sticks and rubber bands to launch small, lightweight objects.
- Make the base stack. Stack 7 craft sticks on top of each other and wrap a rubber band tightly around each end to hold them together.
- Create the arm. Take the remaining 2 craft sticks and stack them together. Wrap a rubber band around only one end to hold them, then gently pull the other ends apart to create a 'V' shape.
- Combine the parts. Slide the stack of 7 sticks between the 2 sticks of the 'V' shape. Position the stack close to the rubber-banded end of the 'V'. Secure the pieces together by wrapping a rubber band in a 'criss-cross' pattern where the sticks meet.
- Attach the launcher. Ask a grown-up to help you glue the plastic bottle cap to the end of the top craft stick. Wait for the glue to dry completely before you start launching.
