How to Make Your Own Storybook

A step-by-step guide to writing, illustrating, and binding your very own original storybook. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.

1. Fold your pages. Take your white printer paper and fold each sheet in half like a taco. Stack them together so all the folds line up perfectly to create the spine of your book.
2. Prepare your cover. Fold your construction paper in half the same way as your white paper. This will be the outer shell that protects your story.
3. Bind your book. Ask a grown-up to help you use the hole puncher to make two holes along the folded edge of your stack. Thread your ribbon through the holes and tie it in a bow, or use a stapler to secure the spine.
4. Write and illustrate. Open your book and start on the first page! Draw your pictures and write your sentences. You can plan your story out on a separate piece of paper first if you want to make sure your plot makes sense.
