How to Make Paper Airplanes That Actually Fly

Learn how to fold a classic dart paper airplane that flies straight and fast with these simple, step-by-step instructions.

  1. Make a center crease. Place your paper vertically on the table. Fold the paper in half by bringing the long sides together, crease it well with your fingernail, and then unfold it so you have a line down the middle.
  2. Fold the top corners. Take the top two corners and fold them down toward the center crease so they form a point at the top of your paper. Your paper should now look like a house with a pointed roof.
  3. Fold the sides again. Take the new slanted top edges and fold them toward the center crease one more time. This makes the nose of your plane very sharp and aerodynamic.
  4. Fold and finish. Fold the entire plane in half along your original center crease so the folded flaps are on the inside. Finally, fold each side down to create wings, making sure the edges line up with the bottom of the plane's body.
