Learn how to design and assemble a custom greeting card for your friends and family using simple materials. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.

  1. Fold your paper. Lay your piece of paper flat on a table. Bring the two short ends together to fold it in half. Use your fingernail to press down on the crease so the edge is nice and sharp.
  2. Design the cover. Think about what you want to say or draw on the front. You might draw a picture of something the person likes, or write a big, colorful greeting like 'Happy Birthday' or 'Thinking of You'.
  3. Add decorations. Use your stickers, paper scraps, or extra drawings to make the card stand out. Use your glue stick to attach any paper pieces carefully. Ask a grown-up if you are unsure about using the glue on certain surfaces.
  4. Write your message. Open the card and write a kind note inside. You can write about what you like about the person or tell them why you are sending the card. Sign your name at the bottom so they know who it is from!
