How to Build Your Own Weekly Schedule

Learn how to organize your week, balance your schoolwork, and make time for the things you love with your own custom schedule.

  1. Draw your grid. Use your ruler and pencil to draw a large grid on your paper. Create seven columns for the days of the week and rows for different times of the day, like 'Morning,' 'After School,' and 'Evening.'
  2. Fill in the constants. Write down the things that happen at the same time every week, such as school hours, sports practice, or music lessons. Use a specific color for these so they stand out.
  3. Add your to-dos. Add your homework, chores, and personal goals to the grid. If you aren't sure how long something will take, ask a grown-up for their best guess.
  4. Schedule your downtime. It is important to leave blank spaces for rest, playing outside, or reading. A good schedule includes time to recharge your brain.
