How to Pack a School Backpack That Stays Organized
Learn how to pack your school bag so you can find exactly what you need, exactly when you need it. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.
- Clear it out. Empty everything out of your bag onto your desk. Throw away any trash like old snack wrappers or crumpled papers you no longer need.
- Group your gear. Sort your items into piles: schoolwork, personal items, and lunch. Keeping similar things together makes them easier to find.
- Pack the heavy stuff first. Place your heaviest books or binders closest to your back. This helps your backpack feel lighter and keeps your bag balanced.
- Use your pockets. Put your pencil case in a front pocket so you can grab it quickly. Use side pockets for your water bottle, and make sure the lid is tight to avoid spills.
- Final check. Zip all the pockets shut and put the bag on. If it feels lopsided, shift your items around until it feels comfortable on both shoulders.
