How to Build a Cardboard Castle
Transform ordinary cardboard boxes into a grand fortress with these simple building steps. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.
- Prepare your boxes. Clear a space on the floor. If you have one large box, that will be your main castle hall. Use smaller boxes to create towers on the sides.
- Cut the battlements. Ask a grown-up to help you cut a 'crenellated' pattern (like a row of teeth) along the top edges of your boxes to give them that classic castle look.
- Connect the walls. Use your tape to join the boxes together. Make sure the tape is pressed down firmly so your castle doesn't wobble.
- Add the details. Draw a drawbridge on the front of your main box. Use your construction paper to make flags and tape them to the tops of your towers.
