How to Make a Glittery Calm-Down Jar

Create a mesmerizing sensory tool to help you find your focus and take a moment to breathe. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.

  1. Fill with water. Fill your jar about three-quarters of the way full with warm water. Ask a grown-up to help you pour to avoid spills.
  2. Add the glue. Pour about 1/2 cup of clear school glue into the water. The glue makes the water thicker so the glitter falls more slowly.
  3. Add your sparkle. Add a few spoonfuls of glitter and your optional sequins. Use your whisk to stir everything together until the glue is dissolved.
  4. Seal the jar. Fill the rest of the jar with water, leaving just a tiny bit of space at the top. Ask a grown-up to apply super glue or strong tape to the threads of the lid before screwing it on tightly.
