How to Make a Study Schedule
Learn how to organize your school assignments and study time so you can get your work done without the stress. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.
- Map out your fixed time. Write down the hours you are at school, at sports practice, or doing other activities that you cannot change. This shows you exactly how much 'free' time you actually have each day.
- List your tasks by priority. Write down everything you need to do this week. Mark the tasks that are due soonest with a red pen. Ask a grown-up to help you figure out which projects will take the longest to finish.
- Block out study sessions. Find empty spots in your calendar to schedule your work. Try to pick times when you are usually feeling awake and focused. Aim for 30 to 45-minute blocks, then add a 10-minute break in between.
- Set your goals. For each study block, write down one specific goal, such as 'finish three math problems' or 'read five pages of my history book.' When you reach your goal, cross it off your list.
