How to Organize Your Toy Collection
A simple, step-by-step guide to help you sort, categorize, and store your toys so you can always find what you need to play.
- Clear the floor. Gather all your toys into one big pile in the middle of the room. This helps you see exactly what you have so you can start making decisions.
- Sort into categories. Group your toys by what they are. Put all your building blocks in one pile, stuffed animals in another, and board games in a third. If you find a toy that is broken, ask a grown-up if it can be fixed or if it is time to say goodbye.
- Label your containers. Write the name of each category on a piece of tape or a label. Stick these labels on your bins so you know exactly where everything goes.
- Pack and store. Put your sorted toys into their matching bins. Place the bins you use most often on lower shelves where they are easy to reach, and put the ones you play with less on higher shelves.
