How to Clean Up Your Kitchen Workspace
Learn how to leave your kitchen counters spotless and organized after you finish a project or help with a meal. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.
- Clear the counters. Gather all your used tools and ingredients. Put leftover food away in the fridge or pantry, and place dirty dishes into the dishwasher or the sink. If you see any trash or food scraps, toss them in the bin.
- Wipe away the crumbs. Use a dry towel or your hand to brush crumbs into your hand or directly into the trash. Getting the loose bits off first makes the wet cleaning part much easier.
- Spray and scrub. Lightly spray your workspace with water or a cleaner approved by your grown-up. Use your sponge or towel to wipe the surface in big, circular motions until all the sticky spots are gone.
- Dry and reset. Use a fresh, dry towel to wipe the counter one last time. Put your cleaning supplies back where they belong so the kitchen is ready for the next person.
