How to Host a Family Game Night
A step-by-step guide for kids to organize and lead a fun, fair, and exciting game night for the whole family. HowTo: Family Edition: family how-tos that actually help.
- Pick the games. Choose 2 or 3 games that everyone can play. Ask your family members which games they enjoy most, and check that you have all the pieces before you start.
- Set the scene. Clear a space on a table or the floor. Make sure there is enough room for everyone to sit comfortably and see the game board. Ask a grown-up to help you set out snacks and drinks.
- Explain the rules. Before you start, read the instructions aloud or explain how to play to make sure everyone is on the same page. If someone is new to the game, give them a practice turn.
- Keep the score. If the game has points, use your notepad to keep track. Be a fair scorekeeper and show the scoreboard to everyone after each round.
