How to Make Fruit Popsicles Without Added Sugar

Learn to make healthy, naturally sweet fruit popsicles using whole fruits and simple ingredients your whole family will love.

  1. Choose Your Fruits. Pick ripe, naturally sweet fruits for the best flavor. Bananas, mangoes, berries, peaches, and grapes work beautifully. Frozen fruits work just as well as fresh and are often more budget-friendly. If your fruit isn't quite sweet enough, try mixing it with naturally sweeter options like banana or mango rather than adding sugar. You can use a single fruit or combine different ones for unique flavors.
  2. Basic Blending Method. Wash and prep your fruit by removing pits, stems, or tough skins. Add the fruit to a blender or food processor. For smoother popsicles, blend until completely smooth. For texture, pulse just a few times to leave small fruit chunks. If the mixture seems too thick, add a small amount of water, 100% fruit juice, or unsweetened milk alternatives. Taste and adjust by adding more sweet fruit if needed.
  3. Fill Your Molds. Pour the fruit mixture into popsicle molds, leaving about half an inch of space at the top since the mixture will expand when frozen. Tap the molds gently on the counter to remove air bubbles. Insert popsicle sticks if your molds require them. If you don't have popsicle molds, small paper cups or ice cube trays work great - just cover with foil and poke sticks through.
  4. Freeze and Enjoy. Place the molds in the freezer for at least 4-6 hours or overnight until completely frozen. To remove the popsicles, run warm water over the outside of the molds for 10-15 seconds, then gently pull them out. Store finished popsicles in the freezer for up to 2 months in a sealed container or freezer bag.
