How to Set Up Your Own Personal Art Space

Create a dedicated, organized area in your home where you can explore your creativity and keep your art supplies ready to use.

  1. Pick your creative corner. Find a spot in your home that has enough room for your table and chair. Make sure it is a place where you can easily reach your supplies and where it is okay if a little bit of paint or glitter drops on the floor.
  2. Protect your workspace. Place an old tablecloth, a plastic mat, or a large piece of cardboard over your table. This keeps your surface clean and makes cleanup much faster when you are finished with your project.
  3. Organize your tools. Group your supplies by type using baskets or bins. Put markers in one, brushes in another, and paper in a flat tray. Ask a grown-up to help you label each bin so you know exactly where everything goes.
  4. Set the light. Good art needs good light. Position your desk near a window for natural sunlight or add a small lamp to your table so you can see your colors clearly even when it gets dark outside.
