How to Create an Art Portfolio

A simple guide for kids to organize, protect, and showcase their favorite artistic creations in a professional-style portfolio.

  1. Select your best work. Lay out all your finished art pieces. Choose the ones that make you feel proud or show a style you really like. You don't need to keep everything—just the pieces that tell your story.
  2. Prepare your cover. Take your two pieces of cardboard. Decorate the front piece with your name and a title like 'My Art Journey.' If you want, you can draw a self-portrait on the front.
  3. Assemble the pages. If you are using page protectors, slide your art inside them. If not, punch two holes on the left side of your art or your divider pages. Ask a grown-up to help make sure the holes line up perfectly.
  4. Bind it together. Stack your cover, your art pages, and the back cover. Use large binder clips to hold the left edge together, or thread ribbon through the holes and tie them in a bow to keep everything secure.
