How to Build a Memory Board for Your Room

Create a personalized display for your favorite photos, notes, and keepsakes to keep your best memories front and center.

  1. Prepare your base. Lay your cardboard or cork tile flat. Measure and cut your fabric or paper so it is about two inches larger than your board on all sides. Wrap the extra fabric around to the back and secure it tightly with tape.
  2. Add your crisscross design. Lay your ribbon or twine across the front of the board in a diamond pattern. Secure the ends of the ribbon on the back of the board with heavy-duty tape or glue. Ask a grown-up to help make sure the ribbons are pulled tight.
  3. Attach your keepsakes. Slide your photos or notes behind the ribbons, or use small binder clips and clothespins to attach them directly to the twine. Arrange them however you like best!
  4. Mount your board. Ask a grown-up to help you use wall-safe adhesive strips or thumbtacks to hang your finished board in a spot where you can see it every day.
